In Germany, 50 million private investors in 21 million households invest their money in funds, either by directly purchasing units in mutual funds for their custody account or indirectly by paying contributions into life insurance policies or occupational pension schemes. This is because insurers, pension funds and other pension schemes are also large professional investors who invest a significant proportion of the contributions they receive in funds1).

Around 2,500 funds are tradable via Deutsche Börse Frankfurt. Traders continuously quote buy and sell prices for these funds in real time. As a private investor, you can therefore buy or sell funds at current prices throughout the day.

Another major advantage of trading via Deutsche Börse is that there are no issue surcharges for fund trading via the exchange, only trading fees.
