CMP webcast: “Navigating the Heightened European Sanctions and Export Controls Compliance Risks”

European companies are facing an increase in sanctions and export controls regulatory requirements. In particular, the in scale and scope unprecedented European sanctions imposed against Russia have further elevated the enforcement risks for companies with European touchpoints.

The webcast will highlight key aspects of the EU's and UK's trade control regimes and assess, how those mechanisms have evolved over the last couple of years and what Companies should expect to come in the near future. Among others, the event will cover the following topics and developments:

  • European Sanctions against Russia and Belarus: The event will analyse the latest changes and updates in European sanctions with regards to Russia and Belarus.  
  • EU, UK and German export controls: Provide an overview of the key regulations and compliance requirements under EU, UK and German export controls.
  • Key trends in EU and UK export controls and sanctions policy: Recent developments and prospects for future sanctions affecting companies, as well as observations regarding the enforcement of UK and EU export controls and sanctions.

Speakers:

  • David Lorello is vice chair of the International Trade Controls Practice Group of Covington & Burling LLP. Based in the firm's London office, he regularly represents clients before the major agencies responsible for export controls and economic sanctions laws and regulations, both in the United States and European Union. David has assisted clients in export and sanctions licensing and compliance issues with regard to a variety of industries and products.
  • Emanuel Ghebregergis is a member of the firm’s International Trade Controls practice group. His trade controls practice has included advising clients in a wide variety of industries on EU and German sanctions and export controls matters.
