An Interview with Ampega on its Entry into the Active ETF Market

Daniel Knörr, Head of Wholesale Business, Ampega Investment GmbH
With the launch of the Ampega Systematic Euro Bonds Active UCITS ETF on Xetra, Ampega has introduced its first active ETF. In this interview, Daniel Knörr, Head of Wholesale Business, discusses the company's entry into the active ETF market, the fund's investment strategy and the reasons for choosing Xetra as its listing venue.

Why did Ampega decide to enter the active ETF market now?

The market for active ETFs is evolving dynamically and creating new opportunities to combine active investment expertise with the benefits of an exchange-traded product. We are observing growing investor demand for more flexible investment solutions without sacrificing active management.

For Ampega, now is therefore the right time to further develop our product offering in a targeted manner. With our long-standing expertise in fixed income management, we have a strong foundation to build on. Our first active ETF combines this experience with a systematic, quantitative investment approach and the advantages of the ETF structure.

We do not view this market entry as a short-term trend, but rather as a strategic expansion of our offering. Our goal is to make our investment expertise accessible to a broader range of investors through additional distribution channels and to unlock new growth opportunities.

What distinguishes the Ampega Systematic Euro Bonds Active UCITS ETF from traditional corporate bond indices?

The Ampega Systematic Euro Bonds differs from traditional corporate bond indices primarily through the active allocation to bonds from additional asset classes. These include bonds issued by public-sector entities and covered bonds, as well as allocations to high-yield and subordinated corporate bonds.

In addition, bond selection is systematically optimized based on our fundamental and quantitative analyses. Interest rate risk (duration) is managed actively and remains within a range close to that of traditional indices.

Why did Ampega choose Deutsche Börse Xetra?

Choosing Xetra was a natural decision for us: Xetra is Europe's leading trading venue for ETFs and ETPs, offering strong visibility and broad reach among both institutional and retail investors.

Particularly when entering the active ETF market, it was important for us to launch our first ETF on an established and high-performance platform. With continuous trading, professional market making and widespread accessibility through banks, brokers and other distribution partners, Xetra provides an excellent infrastructure for reaching diverse investor groups.

For Ampega, Xetra primarily represents maximum market reach, an established trading venue and easy access for investors. This aligns with our ambition to combine our investment expertise with a modern and broadly accessible investment vehicle.

Thank you very much for the interview!
