Stefan Bielmeier was born in 1966, is married and has 4 children.

Following graduation from university as an economist, he started his career at Deutsche Bank AG in 1996. Since January 2006, he has been in charge of Economic Research within Global Markets in Germany. Since January 2009, his scope of responsibility has also covered the areas of Asset Allocation and Equity Strategy.

Stefan Bielmeier joined DZ BANK in June 2010. There, he is Head of Research and Economics and chief economist of DZ BANK. He therefore bears responsibility for the strategic direction of this division, for all economic and financial market forecasts of DZ BANK and for the development of the bank’s positions on matters of economic policy. In addition, Stefan Bielmeier is involved in various committees including the working group of chief economists of the eight European UNICO banks, in which strategic issues of the banking sector and matters of economic policy are discussed under his direction. In all these areas of activity, his main concern is to develop adequate investment strategies for private investors in a difficult environment.

Beside his functions at DZ BANK, Stefan Bielmeier also acts as the chairman of the executive board of DVFA (German Society for Financial Analysis and Asset Management), i.e. the trade association of investment professionals in Germany. The objective of the DVFA and its members is to promote the profile of the profession, further develop the framework conditions of professional practice and strengthen the level of public understanding for the profession.
