Dirk Schumacher

Dirk is an economist on the European Economics team covering the Eurozone, with a specific focus on Germany and Switzerland. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 and was named managing director in 2010.

Prior to joining the firm, Dirk worked in the research department at Commerzbank while writing his PhD dissertation at the Center for Financial Studies in Frankfurt.

Dirk earned a master’s degree in economics from Bonn University in 1997 and a PhD from Frankfurt University in 2002.
