This circular is to inform you about the start of the Windows 2000 operating system support for Xetra and Eurex.
From April 2, 2002, the Windows 2000 operating system will be supported for Xetra Release 6.5 and Eurex Release 5.0. To allow a step-wise migration from Windows NT to Windows 2000, both operating systems will be supported in parallel until the next respective release.
For Xetra, parallel support will continue until the introduction of Xetra Release 7.0, planned for August 19, 2002. For Eurex, it will continue until the introduction of Eurex Release 6.0, scheduled for October 2002. After the introduction of Xetra Release 7.0 / Eurex Release 6.0, only Windows 2000 will be supported. Operation of Xetra or Eurex under Windows NT will then no longer be possible.
Please note that using Windows 2000 is only possible with the Java-based Xetra J-Trader, which was introduced with Xetra Release 6.5, and GATE 3.0. The C++ based Xetra Trader does not support Windows 2000.
Updated software kits are required for the migration to Windows 2000. Windows 2000-compatible software kits will be distributed to the members from March 28, 2002.
The Windows 2000 operating system versions stated in enclosure 1 (see attached pdf file) are the only ones supported.
Therefore, from April 2, 2002 until the introduction of Xetra Release 7.0 and Eurex Release 6.0, the combinations of MISS/workstation operating systems stated in enclosure 2 (see attached pdf file) will be supported in the same configuration.
The hardware sizing requirements for Windows 2000 are identical to those for Windows NT.
The requirements can be found in the current version of the „Common Sizing Guidelines GATE 3.0“ document, which is available for download on the Xetra web site www.xetra.de under
